Grind & extraction time in French Press

I'm always in the mood for a good french press. Oh, we were speaking of coffee, excuse me. I prefer a slightly over medium grind. I would think this of course ( pun intended) depends upon your filt... Read More »

Our 100% Kona Coffee Farm

My wife and I live in Captain Cook, South Kona District, the Big Island of Hawaii. Here we own a 7 acre Kona coffee farm.

We are about 90% thru with the 2007 harvest. I expect in another 7-10 days we will pick the last round of 2-3000 pounds of cherry.

Happy New Year

Aloha everyone,

Happy New Year to one and all. Hawaii is the last state in the US to move into 2008 so I thought I would post this now. It appears that we may have a rainy day and it will perhaps limit the fireworks. In Hawaii individual fireworks displays are legal, with a $25 permit.

We at Princess Radha Farm hope that you all have a Happy New Year and are prosperous at whatever your interests may be.

Mahalo,

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all from south Kona, Hawaii

We just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from our coffee farm in Captain Cook, south Kona, Hawaii.

Last week we drove up to the top of the volcano, Mauna Loa, 14,000 feet high and snow covered. That was our holiday treat! Oh then yesterday we went to the beach and snorkeled in 80 degree water.

Our 100% Kona Coffee Farm

Aloha,

As I mentioned above my wife and I live in Captain Cook, South Kona District, on the Big Island of Hawaii. We own and operate a 7 acre Kona coffee farm that has been a coffee farm for 150 years. We have coffee trees that are 100 plus years old.

We are coming to the end of the 2007 harvest. Most likely our final round of picking will be in 7-10 days as the last of 2-3000 pound of cherry ripens. The total harvest this year will be around 30,000 pounds of cherry.

Starbucks opens its first 'un-Starbucks' store, 15th Ave Coffee & Tea

At 6:00 am on Friday, the doors opened to Starbucks first “un-Starbucks” store on Capitol Hill in Seattle. It’s called 15th Ave Coffee & Tea and upon first glance, you would never know it was a Starbucks. There isn’t a green siren logo to be found anywhere. The only thing giving away the true identity of the corporate owner are the words “inspired by Starbucks” strategically placed around the

Republic of the Philippines eyes to regain world coffee market dominance

Massive coffee replanting launched The Philippine Coffee Board will begin massive replanting of former coffee plantations with new trees and developing new ones to ensure that the country will regain its dominance of  the world coffee market at the soonest time possible. Idle thoughts... from an idle mind

Did you know?
Costa Rica is the only country in the world which has issued an executive order banning the production of any variety of coffee other than Arabica. This standard is made possible by the expertise, experience and favorable physical conditions found in this remarkable land.
I'm going to Costa Rica soon!

Computers and coffee roasting do NOT mix. How many burnt batches of coffee before I follow that rule?
