What would be a recession indicator in the business for selling coffee? You can always checkout the traffic and additional sales a sale generates. It would have to of course be a price reduction deal. If the reduced sale prices fail to generate traffic and those extra transactions, you are in a recession otherwise no recession.
I noticed this week at a local Starbucks that they are having a coffee sale. I believe it might be 20% off the listed prices on their bagged coffee. This struck me as I don't recall any Starbuck deals before Christmas last year. I also noticed that the traffic was off this week at my Starbucks hangout. Recession? Who really knows but what I can say for sure is that Starbucks coffee is a lot stronger than their stock.
As as
investors speculated a government report yesterday showed consumer
prices rose at the fastest pace in six months, adding to concern
that lower spending will slow economic growth giving fuel to the obvious sell-off of Starbucks stock that began over a year ago.
